European Donation Day 2025 hosted by Greece

The 2025 edition of European Day for Organ, Tissue and Cell Donation, better known as European Donation Day (EDD), will be celebrated from 10 to 12 October and hosted by Greece, in collaboration with the Hellenic Transplant Organization. This red-letter day will unfold through a series of special events in Kalamata and in Athens.

Find out more on this year’s dedicated EDD web page: European Donation Day 2025.

Sponsored every year in a different country by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM), EDD is a beacon of hope for those in need of a life-saving or life-changing transplantation. It reminds us that everyone can help make someone else’s life better with a gift of hope.

Organ donation, more life. United in purpose. Stronger together.

EDD 2025 events will take place over the weekend from 10 to 12 October, in Kalamata and Athens (Greece), including the annual plenary meeting of the European Committee on Organ Transplantation (CD-P-TO), the intergovernmental committee that oversees and co-ordinates the Council of Europe’s work in the field, and local awareness campaigns. Several prominent, historical buildings in both cities will be illuminated in green – the EDD colour.
