The European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) and the Portuguese National Authority of Medicines and Health Products (Infarmed) are organising a symposium entitled “Healthcare and medicines: meeting patient’s needs through Council of Europe/EDQM and national programmes”. 

This two-day event will bring together experts from health authorities, policymakers, healthcare professionals and industry and patient representatives.
Participants will have a unique opportunity to interact with key stakeholders and representatives from organisations across Europe, all of which are committed to advancing the safe and appropriate use of medicines and promoting patient-centred care. 

Key topics will include:

• exploring the role of the EDQM and Infarmed in promoting and protecting public health;
• highlighting innovative national programmes, including Infarmed’s Incluir (patient engagement) and Dispensa em Proximidade (the Proximity Dispensing System) projects;
• discussing the implementation of the EDQM’s guidelines on medication review and the traceability of medicines in hospital settings;
• addressing challenges in the remote and online provision of medicines;
• exchanging perspectives on the safe use of herbal food supplements;
• engaging in interactive discussions on the future of best practice in healthcare.

Interactive sessions

Each session will end with an interactive discussion, where participants can ask questions, share their experience and discuss issues with the presenters and fellow participants, providing an excellent networking opportunity.

The registration fee per delegate is:  

• Industry and trade associations (private sector): 400 euros
• Health authorities, healthcare professionals, patient and healthcare-professional associations, academia (public sector):  Free of charge
