The European Pharmacopoeia Commission (EPC) held its 182nd session on 17 and 18 June 2025. A summary of its outcome is available in the infographic below. Highlights will be published shortly on our website and the full list of adopted texts will be made available on the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.) work programme web page in the coming weeks.

During this session, Dr Eugenia Cogliandro (Italy) took over as Chair for a 3-year mandate, succeeding Dr Salvador Cañigueral, whose tenure was marked by visionary leadership and strong commitment to excellence. Elected at the 181st session in March, Dr Cogliandro brings to the role over two decades of experience in pharmaceutical quality assessment and regulatory affairs, as well as a strong scientific background. In her inaugural address to the members of the EPC, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to Salvador, acknowledging the strong foundation he had laid and affirming her dedication to continuing the EPC’s mission with passion and purpose. Dr Detlef Bartel (Germany) and Ms Ana Borić (Bosnia and Herzegovina) were also elected as Vice-Chairs of the Commission.

The all-digital 12th Edition of the Ph. Eur. was launched on 24 June 2025 on a new, user-friendly online platform. This is a milestone that inaugurates a new era for the Ph. Eur., one marked by innovation and that builds on its strong tradition of international collaboration and scientific excellence in the quality control of medicines. To celebrate this transition, the EDQM hosted a dedicated launch event at the Planetarium of the University of Strasbourg, back-to-back with the 182nd session. Have a look at the photos and at the recording of the event. The 183rd session of the EPC will take place in hybrid format on 18 and 19 November 2025.
