2022

In 2022, the EDQM’s ability to change, benefit from transition and adapt to new circumstances was crucial to the success of its activities. The EDQM became a Major Administrative Entity within the Council of Europe organisational structure, reporting directly to the Secretary General. Changes in key management personnel were made. The transition to the 11th Edition of the European Pharmacopoeia was marked by a milestone conference held in September in hybrid format. The war in Ukraine resulted in the exclusion of the Russian Federation from the Council of Europe and the suspension of the Russian Federation and Belarus as observers to the European Pharmacopoeia Commission. All this took place against a backdrop of new global challenges in almost all areas of life during the post-pandemic period, where uncertainty is inevitable.
