Grade: B3

Salary: from €3 600 per month (net)

Location: Strasbourg (France)

Temporary contract : 6 months

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic candidate who is able to quickly adapt to our established structures and be immediately operational at the level required for this post.

The essential tasks for this post are:

  • contributing to the development and implementation strategies for the procurement of candidate materials for reference standards (including helping to determine the quantity of materials to be procured, relative to the needs of the EDQM, and where and how to procure them);
  • ensuring that all relevant internal databases are up to date with regard to each procurement project, including creating SAP material codes and purchase orders;
  • verifying the chemical structure and the form of the chemical compounds to be procured (using various tools such as the SciFinder database);
  • supporting negotiations with manufacturers and suppliers, including custom synthesis laboratories; where possible, requesting materials in the form of donations;
  • co-ordinating with colleagues on the logistical and administrative aspects related to incoming deliveries, ensuring all the necessary technical, customs, and administrative documents have been gathered prior to each shipment;
  • reviewing the quality of materials sent to the EDQM, by ensuring supplier certificates of analysis comply with corresponding procurement specifications.

 You must:

  • be a citizen of a Member State of the Council of Europe;
  • hold a higher education degree or qualification in a relevant area (e.g. pharmacy, chemistry, biochemistry, or similar);
  • have a very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of French;
  • have at least 6 months’ experience in procurement environment (from either the client or the buyer perspective) within a chemical/pharmaceutical setting, or experience in the analysis of chemical structures and the evaluation of analytical data to determine the quality/purity of chemical and biological materials.

The following would also be an asset:

  • experience related to the synthesis, manufacturing or quality control of chemical materials;
  • good knowledge of the fundamentals of organic chemical synthesis;
  • strong IT skills; proficiency in MS Office, Sci-Finder; experience of using ERP systems (e.g. SAP);
  • experience in public procurement processes would be a plus, either launching tenders or submitting offers to public tenders.
