Scientific Programme Manager - Chemistry 

Grade : A1/A2

Contract Type:  Renewable fixed term contract

Would you be interested in taking part in elaborating the texts of the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.), or working with Ph. Eur. reference standards or the Certification of Suitability procedure? Do you have a strong background in quality control or developing methods of analysis of substances and knowledge of regulatory requirements for medicinal products and/or their ingredients? Do you think you have the right mix of scientific, relationship-building and project management skills needed to facilitate exchanges with groups of experts, manufacturers from across the world or other scientific staff within the EDQM? Main responsibilities of the job:

As Scientific Programme Manager at the EDQM you will plan, implement and assess scientific programmes related to substances for pharmaceutical use (excipients or active substances) and/or medicinal products in order to ensure the quality of medicines, working with experts from across Europe and beyond or other scientific staff at the EDQM. This could include you responding to stakeholder questions, drafting news items or scientific papers, developing and maintaining contacts with other scientific staff and with counterparts in relevant industries and scientific and regulatory organisations.

Do you have a strong background in a biology field with a special focus on one or more of the following: advanced therapy medicinal products, molecular biology, biotechnology, vaccines, biotherapeutic products or blood derived medicinal products? Have you got the right mix of scientific, relationship-building and project management skills to facilitate exchanges with groups of experts, manufacturers from across the world or other scientific staff within the EDQM? Main responsibilities of the job:

As Scientific Programme Manager at the EDQM you will plan and co-ordinate activities and follow-up on actions for assigned Biological Standardisation projects, including liaising with the EDQM’s Department for Reference Standards and Logistics or external partners for the acquisition and production of biological reference preparations; work with project leaders to establish protocols for the evaluation of candidate materials; coordinate collaborative laboratory studies; initiate the follow-up of studies (e.g. the monitoring of reference materials, reporting of results obtained with newly established standards).

Scientific Editing Manager

Are you a dynamic and motivated scientist with an interest in scientific editing? Would you be at ease working and collaborating with colleagues across our Organisation? Do you have what it takes to co-ordinate and supervise teams or activities? Would you like to contribute to the development of legally binding texts published in the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph.Eur.)? Main responsibilities of the job:

As Scientific Editing Manager you will be expected to co-ordinate and supervise the Section’s scientific editing activities during preparation of English and French texts for publication in Pharmeuropa (drafts published for public enquiry) or in the Ph. Eur. (legally binding final texts) while proactively managing the content of the Pharmeuropa website.

   Temporary recruitment

Short-term employment opportunities (up to 9 months in a calendar year) might become available to cover staff absences, periods of increased workload or to support specific projects. The contracts can be monthly or daily temporary contracts and can be an excellent way to gain experience or new skills. This type of contract cannot, however, lead to longer term employment - this is accessed through separate recruitment processes.

    Traineeships

    We are happy to welcome trainees to the EDQM. For you it is a chance to gain valuable experience in a complex multi-cultural and stimulating work environment. For us, we benefit from the enthusiasm, motivation and skills that new graduates bring. To qualify for a traineeship, you should normally be in your final year of study in pharmacy, chemistry, biology or in a similar domain. Traineeships last for up to six months.
