Director of the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare   Grade: A6

We are looking for a senior manager with a sound scientific background, able to provide vision and leadership to a flagship organisation in the field of quality of medicines and healthcare, both at a strategic and operational management level, with very good decision-making skills, including the capacity to take decisions in a complex political environment and in crisis situations.   

Main responsibilities of the job: As the Director of the EDQM, you will define the Directorate’s strategic orientation whilst leading about 400 staff members in their daily activities. You will provide high-level expert guidance in regulatory and scientific questions to the Directorate and work with other Council of Europe bodies and sectors as well as establish and maintain relations with national, European and international bodies.

  Temporary recruitment

Short-term employment opportunities (up to 9 months in a calendar year) might become available to cover staff absences, periods of increased workload or to support specific projects. The contracts can be monthly or daily temporary contracts and can be an excellent way to gain experience or new skills. This type of contract cannot, however, lead to longer term employment - this is accessed through separate recruitment processes.


Industrial Hygiene, Safety and Environment (HSE) Support Assistant   Grade: B3 Salary: from €3 600/month (gross)
Contract Type: Temporary contract (maximum 9 months)

As HSE Support Assistant your role will focus on:

  • assisting with the review and revision of HSE measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic, on the basis of the Council of Europe recommendations, and ensuring their implementation in EDQM buildings (ensure availability of materials, organisation of practical aspects, follow-up of suspected/confirmed cases and related actions such as cleaning, etc.);
  • contributing to the HSE risk assessment of the EDQM’s new site near Metz and creating and updating relevant quality documents; taking part in the update of the “Document Unique d’évaluation des risques professionnels” ; ensuring that the associated preventive measures are effective;
  • following up on periodic inspections, waste management (including hazardous industrial waste), and HSE audit actions for Metz or Strasbourg;
  • organising HSE training for staff and external companies working in Metz or Strasbourg.

As a minimum, you must:

  • hold a higher education degree or qualification (equivalent to the first cycle of the Bologna process framework of qualifications for the European Higher Education Area) in an area related to the activities of the post (chemistry, biology, industrial hygiene, safety, environment, quality);
  • have a very good knowledge of one of the two Council of Europe official languages (French) and good knowledge of the other (English);
  • be a citizen of one of the 47 member States of the Council of Europe;
  • be under 65 years of age.

Asset: have relevant professional experience in the area of industrial hygiene, safety and environment.

Demonstrate to us that you have the following competencies:

Place of work: Your workplace will be based in Strasbourg. However, trips will be planned to Metz on a regular basis.

Traineeships

We are happy to welcome trainees to the EDQM. For you it is a chance to gain valuable experience in a complex multi-cultural and stimulating work environment. For us, we benefit from the enthusiasm, motivation and skills that new graduates bring. To qualify for a traineeship, you should normally be in your final year of study in pharmacy, chemistry, biology or in a similar domain. Traineeships last for up to six months.
