Head of Division – Scientific Support and Inspection

Grade: A4                                                          

Salary: €9 035 per month (gross)¹

Do you have the skills required to play a key role in running the Certification of Suitability to the monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia (CEP) procedure, leading a team of scientific and administrative staff to ensure our objectives and performance targets? Are you ready to face the challenges involved in managing change and developing synergies between teams? If you have significant experience of working with pharmaceutical regulatory requirements – particularly the “Quality” parts of marketing authorisation applications – as well as relevant managerial experience, this vacancy may be the right opportunity for you.

Main responsibilities of the job: As Head of Division, your role will focus on co-ordinating scientific support activities, including providing technical leadership during the preparation and maintenance of Certificates of Suitability (CEPs) and CEP policies, managing investigation activities in the event of quality issues arising with substances covered by CEPs and coordinating the elaboration and implementation of the inspection programme for active substance manufacturers. You will also develop and maintain effective relationships with national and international agencies, experts, CEP applicants/holders and other stakeholders, enhancing the visibility of the Department’s work through good communication and by representing the EDQM at conferences or in European and international groups working in related fields.

Main responsibilities of the job: As Head of the Manufacturing Division producing the EDQM’s portfolio of reference standards and samples, you will oversee the implementation of manufacturing strategies, processes, planning and best practices to meet key objectives and performance targets, developing opportunities whilst mitigating risks. Another key element of the role will be to manage the Division’s resources including leading and motivating the team, ensuring an effective, efficient, safe and results-oriented organisation, whilst promoting co-operation and effective synergies within the Department and with other EDQM entities.

   Temporary recruitment

Short-term employment opportunities (up to 9 months in a calendar year) might become available to cover staff absences, periods of increased workload or to support specific projects. The contracts can be monthly or daily temporary contracts and can be an excellent way to gain experience or new skills. This type of contract cannot, however, lead to longer term employment - this is accessed through separate recruitment processes.

    Traineeships

    We are happy to welcome trainees to the EDQM. For you it is a chance to gain valuable experience in a complex multi-cultural and stimulating work environment. For us, we benefit from the enthusiasm, motivation and skills that new graduates bring. To qualify for a traineeship, you should normally be in your final year of study in pharmacy, chemistry, biology or in a similar domain. Traineeships last for up to six months.
