  Scientific Programme Manager (Grade A1/A2) - EPD - e23/2019

The Council of Europe and its European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) are looking for a motivated Scientific Programme Manager in the fields of biological products and microbiology.

 

The main responsibilities of the job:

Within the European Pharmacopoeia Department, the successful applicant will provide scientific advice, guidance and support in developing and maintaining monographs and texts of the European Pharmacopoeia in the fields of biological products and microbiology.   Scientific Assistants (Grade B4) - DCEP - e25/2019  

Salary: 3 900€ per month (Gross, as of 1 January 2019)

Contract Type: Full time fixed term contract – up to a maximum of 5 years

Are you a scientist with excellent skills in chemical synthesis or analytical chemistry? Could you critically review data according to rules and participate in the decision-taking process for the Certification of Suitability to the monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia (CEP)?  This position is an exceptional stepping-stone for a scientist wishing to develop a career in regulatory affairs.

The main responsibilities of the job:

Within the Certification of Substances Department, the successful applicant will provide professional scientific assistance and technical support to the CEP, for example validating applications, participating in the scientific evaluation of revisions of applications or gathering data on manufacturing sites for the inspection programme as well as ensure the link between the evaluation and inspection activities.

The Council of Europe and its European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) are looking for a motivated and effective supervisor with strong scientific expertise to provide assistance in the treatment of revisions of Certificates of Suitability to the monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia (CEP) applications, and thus ensure manufacturers continue to comply with the European Pharmacopoeia and the requirements of the relevant EU legislation.

The main responsibilities of the job:

Within the Certification of Substances Department, the successful applicant will supervise the work of a group of scientists within the Certification of Suitability to the monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia (CEP) Revisions Team. Other responsibilities include assisting the Head of Section in the management of the activities, training and coaching junior staff and cooperating with other colleagues within the EDQM on various projects.   Temporary recruitment

Short-term employment opportunities (up to 9 months in a calendar year) might become available to cover staff absences, periods of increased workload or to support specific projects. The contracts can be monthly or daily temporary contracts and can be an excellent way to gain experience or new skills.  Scientific Assistants – Certification of substances Department

Grade: B3

The Council of Europe and its European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) are looking for an enthusiastic scientific assistant to temporarily join our Certification of Substances Department (DCEP).

The main responsibilities of the job:

  • participate in the validation of applications for certificates of suitability to the monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia (CEPs) at receipt, check their acceptability; monitor applications and prepare CEPs
  • participate in the scientific evaluation of revisions of CEP applications in accordance with technical rules and guidelines (general and specific monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia, guidelines adopted by the Steering Committee of the Certification procedure, ICH and EU)
  • provide technical support to the EDQM inspection programme of manufacturers of active substances; gather data on manufacturing sites and ensure the links between the evaluation and inspection activities

What we look for in someone to undertake this role effectively:

  • a higher education degree or qualification in a relevant area (for example, pharmacy, chemistry, biochemistry, food science)
  • short professional experience in the field (minimum 6 months)
  • very good knowledge of one of the two official languages of the Council of Europe (English) and basic knowledge of the other official language (French)

We are happy to welcome trainees to EDQM. For you it is a chance to gain valuable experience in a complex multi-cultural and stimulating work environment. For us, we benefit from the enthusiasm, motivation and skills that new graduates bring. To qualify for a traineeship, you should normally be in your final year of study in pharmacy, chemistry, biology or in a similar domain. Traineeships last for up to six months.
