he European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM) is pleased to announce a symposium co-organised with the Portuguese National Authority of Medicines and Health Products (INFARMED), entitled “Healthcare and medicines: meeting patient’s needs through Council of Europe/EDQM and national programmes”. It will take place in Lisbon (Portugal) on 5 and 6 May 2026.
This two-day event will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, including experts from national competent authorities, policymakers, healthcare professionals and industry and patient representatives.
Key topics will include:
- exploring the role of the EDQM, INFARMED and national authorities in promoting and protecting public health;
- highlighting innovative national programmes, including Infarmed’s Incluir and Dispensa em Proximidade projects;
- discussing the implementation of the EDQM’s guidelines on medication review and ;
- addressing challenges in the remote and online provision of medicines;
- exchanging perspectives on the safe use of herbal food supplements;
- engaging in interactive discussions on the future of best practice in healthcare.
Participants will have a unique opportunity to interact with key stakeholders and representatives of organisations from all around Europe involved in pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical care. Each session will end with an interactive discussion, allowing the participants to ask questions, share their experience and talk issues over with the presenters and fellow participants.
