The European Pharmacopoeia Commission granted observer status to Mexico during its 166th session (March 2020). This decision demonstrates the dynamism of the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.), which now has 30 observers from around the world in addition to the 39 European countries and the European Union as signatory parties.
This status allows the Mexican authorities to participate in the scientific work of the European Pharmacopoeia Commission and other EDQM activities, to benefit from the EDQM’s experience in the field of medicinal products for human and veterinary use, to exchange with experts from European and international licensing authorities and inspectorates, and to take part in the work on the development of international quality controls for medicines and the methods of analysis used.
