Accounting and financial assistant
Grade: B1/B2, according to experience
Salary: €3226 (B1)/ €3676(B2) per month (gross)

The “Accounts Payable” team of the Administrative and Financial Division (DAF) of the EDQM is looking for an Accounting and Financial Assistant starting from 1 September 2025.
In this role, the selected candidate will play a key part in managing administrative and financial processes, in coordination with various EDQM and Council of Europe departments.
Main responsibilities:
Order and invoice management:
Check and enter orders into the FIMS (Oracle) system in compliance with internal procedures and financial delegations; ensure proper accounting coding; record and approve invoices for processing by the Treasury Department; monitor the regular closure of purchase orders for effective budget management.
Receipt of goods and services:
Verify deliveries and record the corresponding invoices in FIMS, checking quantities and invoiced amounts.
Travel expense management:
Calculate and verify costs related to the travel of staff and experts attending EDQM meetings; review reimbursement requests in accordance with applicable rules; follow up on outstanding reimbursements and recoverable expenses from external organisations.
Profile sought:
This position requires strong organisational skills, great attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to work independently in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
Professional experience in accounting, financial management, or processing of orders and invoices (ideally in an international or institutional environment);
Proficiency in IT tools: excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel for accounting functions), as well as ERP systems such as Oracle (FIMS) or equivalents;
Language skills: very good command of one of the Council of Europe’s official languages (English or French) and the ability to communicate effectively in a professional setting in the other;
Accuracy and attention to detail: ability to handle financial data precisely, verify document compliance, and ensure thorough follow-up of operations;
Organisation and time management: ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and effectively prioritise in a dynamic environment;
Autonomy and team spirit: self-motivation, ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
You must also:
- be a citizen of one of the 46 member states of the Council of Europe;
- be under 65 years of age at the closing date of this job advert.
