Meet Anna – European Day for Organ Donation and Transplantation (EODD)

The donation of bone marrow can help make life better for people with bone marrow disease, including leukaemia (a type of blood cancer). But before a person receives a transplant, compatible bone marrow must be found. Therefore, the more registered donors there are, the greater the chance of finding a match with a patient.

Everyone has a role to play in helping others:

  • 1 donor of organs can save up to 8 patients
  • 1 donor of tissue and cells can save or improve the lives of up to 100 patients

Those who are interested in becoming donors should look for information on registering as a donor in their country and inform their family about their decision.
