  • Every year, European countries celebrate European Organ Donation Day (EODD). The idea behind this Day, initiated by the Council of Europe, is to encourage debate and provide information on organ, tissues and cells donation and transplantation, and legal and medical measures so that every European can decide about donation and make their wishes known to their family. Organ, tissues and cells transplantation is one of the great medical success stories of modern times and is the only life-saving treatment for end-stage organ failure in many conditions.
  • The EDQM is committed to supporting vaccine developers during the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic – as well as contributing to the wider global effort to combat the virus – by openly sharing knowledge and offering temporary free access to relevant guidance and standards.

  • The EDQM announces the availability of 7 new Ph. Eur. reference standards and 14 replacement batches for Ph. Eur. reference standards in May 2020.
  • With a view to improving the correspondence between liquid chromatography column brand names (provided in the Knowledge Database) and the reagents used to describe the stationary phases for these columns, an overall review of all the monographs concerned has been launched. The names of the reagents and their definitions have also been reviewed to ensure that these stationary phases are described as clearly and consistently as possible.
  • L’assemblée annuelle du réseau européen des laboratoires officiels de contrôle des médicaments (OMCL) s’est tenue du 12 au 15 mai 2020, en ligne et avec un programme resserré en raison de la crise due à la COVID-19. Organisée par l’EDQM, elle a rassemblé plus de 350 participants de 39 pays.
  • The annual meeting of the European Network of Official Medicines Control Laboratories (OMCLs) took place from 12 to 15 May 2020, online and with a reduced programme due to the COVID-19 crisis. It was attended by more than 350 participants from 39 countries and was organised by the EDQM.
  • L’EDQM/Conseil de l’Europe vient de publier, en anglais uniquement, la 20e Édition de son Guide pour la préparation, l’utilisation et l’assurance qualité des composants sanguins (« Guide Sang »). Utilisé dans plus de 90 pays, le Guide Sang est devenu une référence incontournable en matière de transfusion sanguine. Il aide les professionnels du monde entier à appliquer des normes communes et harmonisées dans le domaine, afin de protéger les donneurs, et ce, au bénéfice des receveurs.
  • The EDQM, Council of Europe, has just released the 20th edition of the Guide to the preparation, use and quality assurance of blood components (also known as the Blood Guide). Used in more than 90 countries, the Blood Guide is considered a gold standard in blood transfusion. It supports professionals in applying common, harmonised standards in this field to protect donors for the benefit of recipients worldwide.
  • L’EDQM organise quatre webinaires de formation gratuits consacrés à la Pharmacopée Européenne et aux activités connexes de l’EDQM. Ces webinaires aborderont de nombreux aspects clés des travaux et procédures de la Pharmacopée Européenne (notamment contrôle des impuretés, nouveaux chapitres et révisions), ainsi que de l’établissement et l’utilisation des étalons de référence de la Ph. Eur. La formation comprendra également une présentation de la procédure de Certification de conformité aux monographies de la Ph. Eur. (CEP) et des conseils sur la préparation d’un dossier conforme aux exigences.
