Quality Management System

In order to sustain our Vision and Mission and to guarantee the best products and services to our customers and stakeholders, the EDQM is implementing a Quality Management System based on the following International Standards:

  • ISO 9001 for general administration;
  • ISO 17025 for laboratories;
  • ISO Guide 34 for Reference Standards; and
  • Guide ISO/IEC 17043:2010 for Proficiency Testing.

On 17 December 2009 the official French standardisation body (Association française de normalisation - Afnor) via Afnor Certification (AFAQ) granted ISO 9001:2008 certification to the EDQM for the following activities:

"Evaluation of applications for certificates of suitability to the monographs of the European Pharmacopoeia (initial, revisions and renewals), granting of certificates, and management of the inspection programme of manufacturing sites and associated brokers".

A copy of the EDQM certificate can be obtained by clicking on the logo.

This certification of compliance recognises that the policies, practices and procedures of our organisation ensure a consistent quality in the products and services we provide.

We believe that our decision to become ISO 9001 certified is a pro-active one that anticipates the demands of our customers and stakeholders, and demonstrates our commitment to providing quality products and services with a constant effort for improvement. They can be confident that the EDQM will continue in this way now and in the future.

The EDQM has already begun to prepare for an extension of the current certification.

Environmental Management System

EDQM offsets its 2009 CO2 emissions...

As part of its Environmental Management System, the EDQM is taking part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by compensating CO2 emissions resulting from shipments made through DHL GOGREEN. This project aims to calculate all the CO2 emissions resulting from its shipments to then compensate these emissions with schemes such as the installation of solar panels in emerging countries, investments in new technologies, and reforestation projects in Asia and South America.

The EDQM offset a total of 58 t of CO2 in 2009.
