The OCABR network has long been committed to the application of reduction, refinement and replacement (3Rs) of tests involving animals. Numerous strategies have been developed to ensure that the 3R principles are applied to the maximum in the context of Article 114 of Directive 2001/83/EC as amended. Many of these strategies are already indicated directly in the product specific guidelines. This focus on 3Rs is now further highlighted in the principles of the EU Administrative Procedure for Official Control Authority Batch Release, in line with the Directive 2010/63/EU in force from 01/01/2013. In addition, six guidelines for Haemophilus Type B containing vaccines have been revised and will come into force on the same date.
